Oranjestad is a unique blend of old and new that lends a distinctive charm to Aruba’s capital. A bustling harbor city, Oranjestad’s streets and malls are dotted with international luxury retailers, diverse boutiques, and dazzling jewelry stores. Fascinating restored landmark buildings are found along the way, such as the green “stadhuis” housing the City Hall where legal marriages are performed.
A scenic linear park lines the coast from Oranjestad to the airport. A new state-of-the-art tram begins at the cruise terminal, meandering through town, all along the sparkling new landscaped Main Street. Oranjestad is also a jumping nightlife mecca, filled with restaurants, cafes, clubs, lounges, bars and casinos.
Getting around downtown Oranjestad has never been easier or more fun with the addition of a state-of-the-art tram, inaugurated in 2012. Connecting the cruise ship terminal with the center of town, the tram passes through the Main Street, now totally remodeled and an attractive pedestrian mall. The tram makes six stops, at monuments and museums along the way, as well as at key shopping areas. In 2015 Oranjestad has welcomed the new cultural/historical project Paardenbaai Aruba, which features 8 blue horses showcased around the downtown area.
Hadicurari Beach in Aruba also known as Fisherman’s Huts, is a rocky strip out past the Marriott Aruba Resort, where windsurfers slice the water and the aeronautics of colorful kite-surf crescents punctuate the horizon. Once home to the island’s fishermen, it is a popular spot in Aruba for surfing enthusiasts and the venue for sporting events in Aruba throughout the year.
The Aruba Hi-Winds, the largest windsurfing event in the Caribbean is held every year in June or July off the beaches at the Fisherman's Huts at Hadicurari.
The renowned two-mile-long strip known as Palm Beach Aruba* is home to glamorous high-rise hotels in Aruba and dotted by water sports concessions, piers, beach bars, restaurants and shops. Calm waters make this a comfortable haven for swimmers and snorkelers.
A walk along the coast at dawn or sunset is perfect for exercise and quiet reflection during your Caribbean vacation. Taking in the magnificent tangerine sunset or enjoying candle-lit, barefoot dining on the beach in Aruba can be the perfect finale to a lazy or exciting day of sun and sea.
After sunset the Palm Beach area just off the beach comes to life as buzzing clubs and casinos in Aruba offer an upbeat nightlife. Two of the largest shopping malls in Aruba cater to the needs of those on a shopping spree and also offer cinema theaters, water fountain shows bowling and Spa facilities.

On the northern coast, midway down the island, sits the abandoned gold mill that once processed ore from mines in the nearby hills during Aruba's gold rush of the nineteenth century. In 1824, gold was finally discovered in Aruba, and eventually, the industry produced more than 3 million pounds of gold.

Here, rooms and restaurant facilities are just steps away from the relatively calm Caribbean waters. Though not too far from bustling downtown Oranjestad, Druif Beach is a quiet and relaxing spot for sunning and socializing in Aruba.

Relax underneath the cooling shades of the Kwihi trees and enjoy a beautiful sunset whilst majestic cruise ships and local fisherman pass you by.
On a deserted stretch of coastline, dramatic shows of water spraying over the rock occurs on a regular basis as the tide rushes to shore. In a unique formation of rock, volcanic stone circles a small depression, creating a tranquil pool known as "conchi" or "Cura di Tortuga," or more familiarly by visitors as the Natural Pool.
The location of the Pool is surrounded by some of Aruba's most rugged terrain, so a visitor truly gets the feeling of having "discovered" something when they reach the site, by either foot, horseback or 4x4 vehicle. Because of the nature of the environment in this secluded area, the site is inaccessible by car.
Aruba Linear Park is the government's new common spaces project. It's a walkway that crosses the entire island. Its a mix of plazas, walkways, bike trails and beautifully landscaped spaces mostly used by locals. You can excersise or even take your kids on a bike ride.
